Little Rock Car Accident Lawyers Encourage Citizens to Stay Safe on the Road This Holiday Season

Christmas is fast approaching, which means a large number of Arkansas’ citizens will be on the road, heading to celebrate with friends and family. Unfortunately, the Little Rock car accident lawyers with the law firm of Rainwater, Holt & Sexton explain the holiday season also typically comes with a spike in vehicle collisions caused by intoxicated motorists.

Numbers from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration show that, in December 2012, there were a total of 830 drunk driving accident fatalities and thousands more injuries suffered in crashes caused by drivers who had too much to drink.

In order to reduce the number of drunk driving accidents in Arkansas this year, the state has launched its holiday “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” public safety campaign. As part of the program, law enforcement will be increasing their saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints in order to take drunk drivers off the road for the next several weeks. According to the Newport Independent, the campaign kicked off Friday, December 12, and will end on New Year’s Day.

The dangers of drunk driving are no secret. That’s why it’s so important for each and every one of us to do our part to keep the roads safe during the holidays. Rainwater, Holt & Sexton’s team of Arkansas personal injury attorneys encourage you to do your part by:

  • Pledging not to drink and drive.
  • Volunteering to be the designated driver on group outings.
  • Reporting any suspected drunk drivers to local law enforcement.
  • Buckling up every time you get into a vehicle.
