Simulator Shows Teen Drivers the Risks of Distracted and Drunk Driving

Car accidents are one of the leading causes of accidental death for teenagers in Arkansas. Two of the most common contributing factors to these crashes are the consumption of alcohol and distracted driving. In an effort to reduce the number of Little Rock Car Accidents caused by these driving behaviors, teens were able to see the effects that alcohol and cellphone use can have on one’s ability to drive.

An article from FOX 16 News explains the group of young motorists gathered at War Memorial Stadium on Saturday, April 5, where they were able to drive golf carts on a coned-off course. Participants were asked to attempt to navigate through the course while attempting to send and receive text messages. Others attempted to complete the course while wearing a pair of eyeglasses that simulated the affects of alcohol.

The participants quickly learned how difficult it could be to drive while engaging in these dangerous behaviors, with some declaring it impossible to do.

This leaves many parents wondering what they can do to help teen drivers understand the risks posed by distracted and drunk driving. The Little Rock Personal Injury Lawyers with Rainwater, Holt & Sexton explain that routinely discussing the dangers with young drivers is one of the best ways to help prevent dangerous driving habits. They add it is also important for parents and guardians to establish rules for the road with their teens.
