Arkansas City Police Department

Arkansas City, a small town in the Arkansas Delta, is looking to stimulate their local tourist attraction by rebuilding and revitalizing their community. By capitalizing on the Delta Heritage Trail, Mayor Rick Hales hopes to attract more visitors to the town. However, growth in population coincides with the need for a better police presence. Chief Elbert Bonner, a volunteer, has worked hard to increase the standard of the law in the area, but the need for more equipment still stands. Especially needed are funds to help test for drunk drivers. That’s why the Arkansas City Police Department was selected as this month’s Difference Maker. Chief Bonner is truly making a difference in his community, we were happy to provide him with the much-needed funds for equipment. We hope that this award will provide an increase in their needs as well as an increase in their tourism.
