Little Rock Personal Injury Lawyers Raise Donations for “Race For The Cure”

Breast cancer is a devastating disease that affects millions of lives in Arkansas each year. Records from the Arkansas Department of Health show the condition is the number one cancer and second most common cause of cancer-related death among women in our state.

Luckily, organizations like the Susan G. Komen Foundation are working to raise awareness and find a cure. One way they raise funds to research potential treatments is by holding events known as “Race For the Cure” across our nation.

The Little Rock event took place this weekend, and it was a success. According to an article from KATV 7 News, nearly 40,000 people attended the “Race For The Cure” in Arkansas this Saturday.

Rainwater, Holt, and Sexton had a team consisting of some of our Little Rock personal injury lawyers and legal staff members participating in the event. The team was able to raise a significant amount of donation for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Our firm is proud of our staff’s achievements, and we encourage you to keep up with what we are doing to better the community by checking out our Facebook page and the community news page of our website.

Local Groups Working to Improve Lives in Little Rock

Local Groups Working to Improve Lives in Little Rock

The Little Rock personal injury attorneys here at Rainwater, Holt & Sexton understand the importance of giving back to the community where we live and work. That’s why we would like to tell you about some local citizens who are striving to make Arkansas a better place to live.

One group of volunteers gathered at Camp Robinson to help clean up after a tornado ripped through the area in April. The team labored for four days to have the property ready for use this summer.

Giving young people the tools they need to succeed is important too. That’s why one local Little Rock business, Skillz Barber Shop, launched a mentoring campaign for the city’s youth. Young boys are each partnered with an older mentor who works to be a role model in the child’s life by participating in activities with them and guiding them to make the right choices in life. FOX 19 News says there are already 19 boys participating in the program and the next event is slated to take place Sunday, June 29, at 3 p.m.

While the last organization was looking to help young people, the next group is helping children help others. Former professional skateboarder, Daniel Haney, organized a youth clean up event at the Riverside skate park to teach children who use the park to take pride in it’s upkeep and improvement.

Rainwater, Holt & Sexton’s team support the efforts made by others to better neighborhoods in Little Rock and other areas of Arkansas. We encourage you to read about The Ripple Effect campaign we launched to help others in our state.

We filled each bucket with essential supplies including flashlights, hand towels, work gloves, rubber gloves, toilet paper, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, and wet wipes. Our employees also included a handwritten message of hope and encouragement with each bucket. Our hearts go out to our neighbors and community members who face such devastation.

Linda Craig is our new Ripple Effect Award winner!

Linda Craig is our new Ripple Effect Award winner!

We can’t imagine losing a loved one. Our hearts go out to anyone who loses a family member, especially when it is in the line of duty.

Linda Craig, president of the Arkansas chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) has been selected as our most recent Ripple Effect Award winner. When you hear her story of dedication and perseverance you will understand why she has received this important award.

In 2000, Linda lost her husband, Tom, a captain with the Arkansas State Police, who was killed in the line of duty. As a result, she joined C.O.P.S., an organization dedicated to providing peer support and resources to assist in rebuilding the lives of surviving families and co-workers of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

After attending a national C.O.P.S. conference in Washington, D.C., Linda returned to Arkansas and started a state chapter. She was made vice president of the chapter in 2002 and later became president, a position she has held for the past two years.

Linda has offered her friendship and counsel to many families in Arkansas. Her goal has been to help survivors during their grieving process by sharing her experience and offering her unwavering understanding and commitment to helping them realize they are not alone.

Society needs people who are willing to set the bar high so others will be challenged

Both modest and selfless, Linda does not see herself as a “hero,” but does hope her life and story can be encouraging to others. “My heroes are first responders, particularly police officers. When people are running away from danger and chaos, first responders are running straight into the face of danger to protect and serve society,” she explains.

Do you know someone who deserves this award? Nominate a local hero today. What better way for us to give back to our heroes?

Tinnon Leads Charge in Raising Money for Autism Speaks

Rainwater, Holt&Sexton would like to recognize Shelley Tinnon for her outstanding contribution to Arkansas Walk Now for Autism Speaks 2012. The event took place on October 6 at the Clinton Presidential Library and was a great success thanks to participants like Shelley.

Shelley led an effort that generated more than $5,000 in donations for Autism Speaks, an organization devoted toward the research and development of treatments for Autism. She also organized “Sloane’s Team” in support of her daughter. Her love for her daughter and her devotion to such a worthy cause provide a model for what Arkansans can do in their communities.
