Unfortunately many people in Little Rock don’t have access to affordable, quality produce. Fresh 2 You Mobile Market is trying to change that. The mobile farmers market is part of the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance’s “Arkansas Hunger and Nutrition Initiative” and strives to make fresh produce accessible and affordable to the Little Rock community. After a 5 month trial period at the end of 2016, Fresh 2 You officially launched earlier this month. Combined with the trial period Fresh 2 You has already served about 2,000 people. Fresh 2 You also participates in the USDA Double Up Bucks program so that people on SNAP benefits can get double the produce.
At Rainwater, Holt & Sexton we’ve placed a great deal of importance on giving back to those in need. Our firm is honored to have been featured in the Arkansas Trial Lawyer Association’squarterly journal, The Docket, for our community work throughout Arkansas. We’ve transformed our office culture to put charitable work at the forefront, whether it’s donations to ALS Arkansas, time spent at the Daisy Bates Elementary Community Garden, or continued involvement in efforts like Recycled Bikes for Kids. Our staff is committed to lending a hand to our Arkansas communities!
Being able to take part in the performing arts is something every child should have the opportunity to do. At Bearden Productions that is not just a saying, it is the entire goal of the organization. This month’s charity has a goal of making quality performing arts programs and classes easily accessible and affordable for the entire community. Since its inception in 2014, Bearden Productions offers normally expensive classes in dance, acting, and even cooking at little or no cost. It offers families on a budget the opportunity to send their kids to a constructive and fun environment.
Rainwater, Holt & Sexton is proud to support the Arkansas Bikers for Children. They are the winners of our November monthly charity give away. This group hosts fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for lifesaving equipment at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Earlier this year they were able to buy ventilators for children, which have already saved lives. Rainwater, Holt & Sexton is happy to donate $840 to Arkansas Bikers for Children and their pursuit to help the children at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
Our monthly charity giving is one of our favorite things to do. Each month employees nominate and vote on a charity in the community they would like to help. Throughout the month employees “donate” by buying snacks and drinks that the firm subsidizes. All the proceeds from the snacks are then matched by the firm. We are honored to have such great employees that not only pick out wonderful organizations, but also help by donating all month long.
Every year around Thanksgiving Rainwater, Holt & Sexton holds a food drive for the Arkansas Food Bank. In conjunction with the drive we host our annual employee thanksgiving potluck, an event we look forward to all year! In 2016, we were happy to donate enough food for 282 meals to the Arkansas Food Bank!
Many families need a place to stay when they are at UAMS for an extended period of time, and that is where the UAMS Family Home can play a big role in their life. The Family Home provides affordable ($10 a night) lodging and a home like setting for cancer patients and parents of premature infants that are being treated at UAMS. As a private, non-profit facility the Family Home operates because of donations from groups and individuals throughout the year. Rainwater, Holt & Sexton is happy to help by donating $1,079.24 as a part of our monthly charity giving.

Rainwater, Holt & Sexton is excited to support City Year Little Rock with this month’s charity give away. City Year is working right here in Little Rock schools to combat high school dropout rates by training and connecting AmeriCorps young adults with schools in need. These young adults act as tutors, mentors, and role models in schools to help students stay on track, and get back on track to graduate!
Rainwater, Holt & Sexton is proud to support Breaking the Chain, a ministry of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church. The organization holds support groups for people struggling with various addictions and their consequences. We were happy to help support this life saving program with an $859 donation.
Our monthly charity winner, Amputees Beyond Life’s Expectations, does great work for people dealing with amputations. They are a support group that is there to not only support, but answer questions and grow as friends with those who are faced with the loss of a limb.
Daisy Bates Elementary school garden is a wonderful program that not only teaches students to tend a garden, but also helps feed kids and families in the area. They even raise chickens and send seeds home with students. We were excited to hear about their program and donate to them as our monthly charity. This donation will help them get an irrigation system.
Recycle Bikes for Kids brings joy to local Arkansas communities by providing kids with their very own bike. This organization spends hours fixing, assembling, and painting bikes for children that may not otherwise have the opportunity to own a bike. Bikes are given to kids free of charge, and adults can put in volunteer hours at the shop for a bike of their own. We’re honored to have Recycle Bikes for Kids as our monthly charity winner!
On Saturday, April 2nd the firm participated in the Walk to Support ALS. The ALS Walk is an annual event and everyone at our office looks forward to participating each year. It is a great way to show our continued support for ALS patients and caregivers. This event brings awareness to ALS and we always have fun when families get together. The team at the ALS Association did a great job organizing food, music, and activities. It is also a way for us to keep the legacy of our partner, Stephen Holt, alive for all of our employees. Stephen was a fantastic lawyer and is still a large part of this firm. It is an honor for us to continue to be involved with supporting the ALS Association Arkansas Chapter in his memory.

Rainwater, Holt & Sexton is proud to support Love Cuts, a nonprofit operating at the Dream Center. Love Cuts provides free haircuts to those who need them most. This money will be used to buy barber equipment for the team, as well as shampoo and other hygiene products for participants who can’t afford them.
We are excited to be able to donate $5,000 to the ALS Association of Arkansas’ Walk to Defeat ALS. The ALS Walk is a cause that is near and dear to our hearts, as our partner Stephen Holt, passed away a little over two years ago from ALS. Read about Stephen here. Since his diagnosis supporting the ALS Association of Arkansas has been one of our biggest priorities and a way for us to honor his memory.
This year we will once again be attending the ALS Walk in Little Rock with a large contingency from Rainwater, Holt & Sexton. It is a time for fellowship with our coworkers, and most importantly a time to remember Stephen. Many of our newer employees never had a chance to meet Stephen, or understand what ALS is and how we can help. This serves as an opportunity to tell both stories and keep his memory alive within the firm.
