During the Covid-19 pandemic, the elderly are considered one of the most vulnerable groups of people, but you wouldn’t think that when meeting Louis Strickland. A WWII Army Crew Chief veteran, Louis just celebrated his 100th birthday while in quarantine at the Arkansas State Veterans Home. Still mentally acute about his memories of fellow soldiers and children of war, his worries during these times are focused on his own daughter. This month, we celebrate a member of the Greatest Generation, Louis Strickland, and the Arkansas State Veterans Home as the recipient of the Saluting Heroes Award. Hooah!
