Fostering the Arts

There are many great organizations working to help foster children in Arkansas. This month’s Spirit of Arkansas winner, Fostering the Arts, is one of those. They work to help kids who have been through traumatic situations and are in foster care to find their voice through the arts. Many children take dance, music, or art lessons for granted. For some, there are not opportunities to experience the arts because of financial difficulties. Fostering the Arts steps in to help and provides scholarships to foster children so they can pick an art program of their choice. The goal is to remove the financial barrier for those foster children allowing them to do something they enjoy and help to grow their skills. It takes around $500 per semester to provide lessons to one foster child, so the $1,000 donation from Rainwater, Holt & Sexton will provide two children with lessons of their choosing during the next semester. These could be children training to be then next great pianist, violinist, or dancer. These children receive that opportunity because of great Spirit of Arkansas organizations like Fostering the Arts.
