Efforts to prevent Conway drug injuries a success

With new trends in adolescent drug use, the risk for Conway drug injuries is on the rise. However, the community is trying to prevent Conway drug injuries, and the Log Cabin Democrat says the efforts were successful.

Conway Police Department and Conway Regional Medical Center held a drug take-back event to collect unused prescription medications which young people are likely to use as recreational drugs.

The take-back event collected over 20,000 drugs in an effort to prevent Conway drug injuries.

Many cities have organized such events, but Arkansas has one of the highest rates of teen drug abuse.

Arkansas drug injuries could increase due to teens’ increased drug abuse

According to Today’s THV, the number of teens abusing prescription drugs is on the rise, which could lead to more Arkansas drug injuries. Arkansas may be leading the nation in the problem of teen drug abuse, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration.

In an effort to decrease Arkansas drug injuries due to teen prescription drug abuse, the Conway Police Department and Conway Regional Medical Center are coming together to give the community a safe way to dispose of prescription drugs.

Teens may suffer Arkansas drug injuries due to ‘pharm parties’

When you think of teens and drugs, you may think of traditional recreational drugs such as marijuana, alcohol, and other illegal drugs. However, police warn that today’s teens aren’t following traditional recreational drug use patterns.

According to Arkansas Matters, though teens still prefer marijuana to other forms of drug use, pharm parties are presenting new risks for Arkansas drug injuries in teens.

Pharm parties occur when teens bring prescription drugs to a gathering, mix the drugs in a punch bowl, and take the drugs recreationally. According to police, pharm parties are occurring everywhere and local teens are at risk for Arkansas drug injuries because of them.

Among the drug injuries teens can suffer are seizures, respiratory depression, and death.

Camel Orbs could pose risks for Arkansas drug injuries in children

According to Today’s THV, parents are concerned their kids may pick up a nicotine habit, or possibly suffer an Arkansas drug injury, without ever lighting a cigarette. Arkansas drug injury kills 15-year-old boy

An Arkansas drug injury killed a 15-year-old boy Wednesday afternoon, according to Fox 16.

The Arkansas drug injury occurred at a home when the two teens huffed Freon out of an air conditioner before getting into a pool.

The one of their sisters noticed the boys’ abnormal behavior. The Arkansas drug injury victim was floating, passed out, in the pool. The other boy had a plastic bag over his head.

Authorities say the Arkansas drug injury victim could have died from huffing the Freon or he could have drowned.

Teens could suffer Arkansas drug injuries from energy drinks

KTHV reported that the problem of teens suffering Little Rock drug injuries as a result of consuming energy drinks is getting more attention because more teens are overdosing on caffeine.

There are over 200 energy drinks on the market and they are becoming more popular with teens who could be at risk for Arkansas drug injuries if they consume them to excess.

A study showed that four patients who consumed energy drinks suffered Little Rock drug injuries such as seizures on multiple occasions.

Emergency room reports also indicate that it has seen an increase of teens with Arkansas drug injuries such as vomiting and headaches after drinking energy drinks.

Wyeth ordered to pay more than $120 million in drug injury lawsuit

Over $43 million each was awarded to three women whose lawsuit claimed the dangerous drugs produced by pharmaceutical giant Wyeth caused them to develop breast cancer, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal. Wyeth was found guilty of negligence in producing, marketing, and selling the drug and is involved in more than 5,000 drug injury lawsuits involving close to 7,900 women across the country.

Wyeth’s company information states they have won 15 of 18 similar trials resolved so far. Two were settled and one was in the plaintiff’s favor. The lawyers of the three drug injury victims said last month that there have been at least three jury verdicts against Wyeth resulting in damages over $1 million.

The jury will deliberate Friday on whether or not Wyeth will also be required to pay punitive damages.
