AR Hunger Relief Alliance

Hunger is a real issue in Arkansas with our state ranking number two in the nation for food insecurity. The Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance is taking on the challenge to solve the problem. The Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance works with food banks all over the state in a multi-faceted way. They work to get food to those in need, but they also work to create policy change, make sure those in need are receiving the correct benefits, work with schools and other non-profits, and raise awareness and advocate for those they serve. Serving the kids in Arkansas is a real priority for the Hunger Relief Alliance, as one in four kids are food insecure. When a child is hungry it’s not possible to do as well in school, which leads to many other problems. When kids are receiving healthy meals and doing well in school, other problems naturally begin to alleviate themselves. For the work the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance is doing for hungry kids all around the state, they are a perfect fit for the Victory Over Violence Difference Maker Award.
